filing non file fit rings?

filing non file fit rings?

like the title says can you file non file fit rings? they seem to be to tight ill get the #s in a min i just wanted to know thanks guys.

You can regap your rings, but be sure you are measuring them correctly first. Use something like an old piston to square them in the bore an inch down or so (the piston manufactuer will have specific instructions on how they like you to do this) and you need to make sure it is expanded in the bore as much as possible, then get the feeler gauges in there and take a measurement. Make sure you know what youa re doing if you go filing your rings because you will do more harm than good - maybe a lot of harm - if you do a hack job on it and scratch the bore up and make the ends all non square.
