File Fit Rings?

I have some SRP forged pistons and I have tota seal file fit rings.
Bored over .030.
Question is, The instructions say to use the follwoing to gap....

Mild Nitrous
bore x .050 - top ring
bore x .055 - second ring

Being bored out, I come up with
.020
.022

Does this not seem tight for nitrous, or all motor for that fact....
Let me know some opinions on gapping??!?!?

Sounds about right for N2O....

What's it say on NA applications? Don't have the sheet next to me at home.

Re: File Fit Rings?

So going from .018 to .020 for N2O..... I would stick with the N2O gap then.

Usually instructions will say what needs to be done to the oil rings.... I always check them because I've had one grab and screw up a hone job.... but for the most part they say don't touch them in the instructions.

Re: File Fit Rings?

I allways keep the ring square while filing (if you dont have a fancy tool) and remove burs from the edges when complete.

I'm clueless here. Don't know if it's me, or the wording. Bret obviously understands, so it must be me. I gather the gapless rings are NOT being used on this one. From initial post, I interpret the recommended gap at .050" on top, and .055" on second, for a nitrous application. It is stated the actual (as received gap) is .020" on top, and .022" on second. A question was asked if that (.020"/.022") were too tight. Then... in second post, the gaps for nitrous application increase to .070"/.065", but staying with .020"/.022". Then Bret states 18/20. I trust my interpretation is incorrect.
