FI, rotating assembly help

sorry if this is a dumb question but if someone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it. i want to go FI so would something like this be good to get http://store.summitracing.com/defaul...ch.asp&x=0&y=0 i just dont want to grenade my pistons or anything. its not a daily driver but i need it to be somewhat reliable. if there is a better route please let me know. i would like to save some $ for my truck so i dont want to go overboard. Basically best bang for my buck. thanks for the help

Well 8lbs isin't too much but going more with good heads could start really stressing the bottom end... your in a area where if you want to go more it's going to cost a bunch more.

Re: FI, rotating assembly help

yeah i know and it kinda sucks i guess i could just put the supercharger on there and baby it on the street (most of the time) and if it goes it goes and ill do a full rebuild stroker or something and if it dosen't i can do the build when i have all the cash saved up. plus if i do it this way and it holds out with the supercharger for awhile then i can save for the 12 bolt so when i do the full build i wont be going through rear ends

Re: FI, rotating assembly help

If it was me....

I'd drop some Inverted Dome pistons in it like a Mahle -20cc Pro Pack or a -24cc SRP Inverted Dome, but a decent rod in there like a Scat I beam with the 7/16 bolts or a set of Eagle H beams. (no need for the upgraded bolts here) Keep the stock crank if it's still good or get a cast replacement. Put the ARP studs in the bottom end and make sure all the clearances are perfect. That should hold 8lbs + and still be safe for a while. The big problem here is making sure the motor don't knock, thats a sure fire way to kill parts.... 9:1-9.4:1 will be safe there. Other than that saving the parts is keeping the clearances right and keeping the main caps from moving.
