A few ses light ?s

When my car is cold, and i start it the ses light will come on until the temp gets to the 1/4 mark on the gauge then it shuts off. My second ? is that when i put my car in reverse, my battery, and oil gauge will go down to zero, then my ses light will come on. When i take it out of reverse, the gauges go back to normal, and the ses light will go out. I did the auto to m-6 swap also. any ideas
Thanks Chad

The first thing you need to do is have the car scanned... tell us what the code is and the people here can help you solve the problem. Without knowing what the code is there is no way we could figure out what's causing it... I will say though that a problem with the emissions system is often the culprit especially if the car is running fine.

As to your other question.. I'll bet the problem has something to do with your trans swap. Since I've never owned an auto car and have never done an auto to manual swap I really can't chime in here...

First have the battery checked to be sure it can support a load. Then once in the car with the engine running, put a voltmeter across the battery. The voltage should be close to 14 volts at idle. If it is not, check the ground straps for the engine and the frame to be sure they are clean, secure and tight.

While your there checking the alternator output, put your meter on AC and measure from negative battery terminal to alternator output. Be sure it is less than 0.03VAC. If not, replace the alternator, belt if it's been a while and the tensioner.
