Few questions regarding 1.6RR upgrade

My car currently has Jet Hot LT's, Hooker Catback, Meziere EWP, and the ws6 ram air intake. I'm will be converting to OBD I and getting a dyno tune soon. Before that, I plan on installing springs and roller rockers. I'm looking for the best spring/rr combo available. There seems to be many options. I don't plan on upgrading the cam anytime in the near future, so I'm thinking about just running the LT4 springs. What about rockers? Should I go for SA or NSA? This car is a daily driver and I want to keep it as problem free as I can.

Finally, how did you guys adjust your lash. I've used the engine off method with success on my old SBC motor. Is it possible to just adjust the valve lash once using the engine off method and leave it be, or will I have to make adjustments later?

Price is not the main issue here, I'm simply looking for the best/problem free combination available.

Is the cam stock?
If you are not going to rev past 6k stick witht he SA rockers. If you choose to run the NSA rockers you will need to use the guide plates for the lt1.
As for adjusting the lash, check out the site shoebox has, wealths of info on his site.

If the rockers are going to be a standalone mod with no intent of adding a bigger cam, SA rockers with LT4 valve springs will be fine.

Ditto the LT4 springs and SA rockers. Adjust the lash with Shoebox Method No. 1 and set your lash
to 1 turn if you keep the 3/8" studs or 3/4 turn if you upgrade to 7/16" studs.

i recommend using the engine running method. everyone has there own opinion on this but after doing it several times different ways i found this to be the easiest and most accurate way for me

and if money is not a factor i would just go ahead and upgrade to 7/16 NSA with trickflow guideplates and trickflow chromolly pushrods. that way for future uprades you will already have the components you need, and its not going to hurt anything

Thanks guys. I will go with the LT4 springs. Should I also replace the lifters and pushrods? Will I have to check geometry to find the proper length pushrod?

Are the Summit brand full roller rockers any good? If they're good, I'll go with those, otherwise I'll get the Crane rockers.

The GMPP 12371042 lifter kit is a good value if you have a connection at at dealer
and can get the price break. I paid $215 for it about 3 months ago.

Back to the lifter adjusting method. I've used the engine off method for over 30 years
and it has always worked. I watched a friend adjust a couple of times with the engine
on method and felt it was a major PITA with no better end results.

You can't go wrong replacing/upgrading the pushrods either. There are several reasonable
cost upgrades to the stockers. And don't forget new valve stem seals while you are in
there with the spring swap. I like to use the GM 12564852 exhaust valve seal and the GM
10212810 intake valve seal. There are also other seal options.

I still say to go with the NSA rockers, you never know plans change sometimes and you wouldnt wanna have to buy rockers again because you skipped out on the little extra cost the first time around.

If the exising lifters are in good shape and the rollers spin freely with no signs of bearing damage, I would reuse them. Some people prefer some stiffer pushrods, even if doing a rocker upgrade. Others just reuse the stock pieces.

With 90k on the clock, I think I'd feel more comfortable swapping out the lifters and pushrods.

How does the GMPP lifter kit compare with the ls7 lifters?

Regarding the pushrods, has anyone had to adjust the lifter length by just going to 1.6 RR or should I be able to use the same length pushrods? I'm assuming the GMPP lifters won't require a different pushrod?

Any more comments regarding the summit 1.6RR?

Thanks for all the info guys.

The GMPP lifter kit is about twice the price of the LS7 lifters.
