A few Q's on my rebuild.

I have a stock LT1 that I plan on rebuilding. When I took the motor apart the pistons broke off on the ring lands so I bought a set of new Speed Pro Hyper..Pistons 2v relief and a new set of PM rods..My 1st question would be should I balance the RT assembly and then assemble the motor? Also, I had the crank turned a few months back std. how can I remove the rust that has accumulated on it? I'm gonna do a LT4 cam with LE1 heads, ported intake w/full bolt on's on an M6 Camaro. I know the parts I have aren't the best..but it's better than what some people are running. My goal is to run mid 12's which I know is do-able with work...advice would be greatly appreciated.

Take the parts to the machine shop to be balanced, have them decide if the rust is minor enough to be polished - they will measure and can sell you the correct bearings at the same time. Get it done right and professionally now and save money and heartache in the long run.

I did think about it...the thing is I already have the LT4 hot cam..I'm thinking off the shelf cam, the biggest I'm thinking of using is the CC503 with a small nitrous shot. I do have to drive it to the track and it's gonna be somewhat of a DD.

What kinda of bearings do you recommend? I was looking at the Clevite 77 P-series or the speed-pro?
