A few more horse....

I'm looking to add a few more horsepower to my car, not looking to spend a bunch of money on a supercharger or heads and cam. my mods are in my sig, most of them anyways. I dont know if there are other little mods i can do for cheap, i want to make it run better than it does already, would it be better for me to swap out my y-pipe which has a 4" exit for one with a 3" exit? after the y-pipe i have a adapter to make it fit to my 3" bullet muffler. Am i good running stock injectors still? I'm at about 300 rwhp, not sure what the calc is for flywheel. what about my fuel pressure regulator? mine is stock still, will a new better one make the car run better? after everything modwise, im going to have it dynotuned. Should i upgrade my throttle body or port the stock one? how about a smooth elbow for the intake? i have the elephant tube blocked already.

I know in the future i'll be doing some more suspention mods, a tq arm... k-member and control arms. Just looking for some input on what some of you guys have done that i can do .

thanks.

Re: A few more horse....

I'm satisfied with the 3.42's that ive got, i'm not looking for better 1/4 mi times, i just want the motor to run better. It runs great as it is but i want it to be perfect. whats this about the tornado? does it actually make any difference?

how would a set of 1.6rr do with some LT4 springs? for a start?

Dont take the Tornado thing literally, it is more or less an inside joke,as the product itself is basically just a well-marketed piece of crap. On a different note, the 1.6 roller rockers and LT4 springs are a good upgrade and an electric water pump will also free up some quick ponies as well. The K-member and front control arms are also a good idea if you are serious about shedding some weight off of your vehicle.

Re: A few more horse....

Your a local fella, and even though you rev'ed into my ear at YSU and we went at it on 680 I'll give my input . I'd say do a CSR Electric WP and some 1.6 roller rockers with LT4 springs. You can get a LT4 spring kit from Jim Pace and the CSR from Summit. Both arent that far from Poland. The rockers are up to you but I'd get Comp Cam Pro Mags 7/16" Non-Self Aligning over the Crane/GMPP ones since they have limited lift numbers incase you want to add a cam down the line. With the 1.6's I recommend come $30 Comp Hardened pushrods (dont listen to Summit when they say they dont have any for LT1's 1308-16 is the part number I think). You also want to look into ARP 7/16" studs to match the rockers, although you can get 3/8" rockers for the stock studs, again thicker studs mean less valvetrain flex and a stronger more reliable valvetrain, especially when the power level goes up. If you get NSA you'll need GMPP NSA guideplates, also sold at Pace. An E-WP is generally worth 10rwhp/10rwtq for $170. Rockers between 8-15 rwhp, price depending on wether you get used rockers or not. (Pro Mags $250, pushrods ($30), studs $30, spring kit $40, guideplates ($25). E-WP's also open up the possibility to many timing chain options. I liked my E-WP a bit more than the 1.6 RR's, but both were great mods. The E-WP was easier to do though. If you have any questions let me know.

How much power does an electric water pump really add?

Which is why I recommend looking up the fellow on the Impala forums (my buddy knows him) who makes a early warning system for pumps dependant on engine temps. A LED light for pre warning and 100db buzzer for pull the fug over now warning.
