Hey all, I am going to apologize now, this post is all over the place and prob has alot of bad spelling
just a quick run down. Over the past month my buddies and I have been doing a few things to my car. For starters i started this whole project becuase the lightweight flywheel that i had with my spec stage 2 setup was cut to low from the factory and was causing the pedal to grab 98% up (TOO high), so they sent me a new flywheel and i upgraded to a spec stage 3. Ok here goes I removed the trans to install a new spec stage 3 (6 puck) clutch, with a new spec lightweight flywheel. The thing installed VERY nice, everything bolted up well, no issues. While I was in there, I replaced the torque arm and tranny mount with poly mounts. I also drained the trans of its fluid and refilled it. I also installed a pro 5.0 shifter. Thats about it for the trans.
After that we did the intake manifold leak, we got the IM off and while it was off I decided to do the !AIR and !EGR mod, so i got the 3 block off plates (2 in the rear and 1 on the exhaust manifold) kept the gasket, backed it up with RTV. I removed the EGR selonoid from the rear of the IM, so now i have a small vacume leak where the line connected to (I am working on that, hehe) We put the IM back on, RTV'ed etc.. etc...
The last stage of our project was to the the oil pan gasket, we did this put the pan on, bolted it back on, and that was it. So after letting the RTV dry for 24 hours I went to go start the car. I hear this TERRIBLE grinding noise. It sounded like the starter was TOO close to the flywheel. So I say to myself, how could that be, its the SAME exact flywheel from spec. So I start the car, just to see how she runs and sounds. I magicly got an SES light, I was always told OBD1 do not get a SES light when !EGR and !AIR is done, could this code be from the SMALL intake leak on the side where the egr selonoid hose connected to? Well besides that, the spec stage 3 clutch is HARSH, VERY agresive, i hope it gets alittle softer as i put some more milage on it (6 miles on her now). I am driving along and i can hear the shifter sound with the pro 5.0 that everyone talks about, it dont bother me to much. but what DOES bother me is the sound of something smacking the bottom of the driver side floor board, right under the pedals. Its not all the time, someitmes mroe when i brake, sometimes when I drive. Any ideas? AND NOW, onto my last issue. I have the manual fan switch mod, which works but my 2 led's do not work becuase i think i yanked on the wires to hard when removing the console. I have my switch off and for some reason my low speed fans are on ALL the time, why is this? Does it have to do with the ses light? Its pretty annoying, and no i dont have the ac on :P PLEASE HELP, post any/all info, also my starter still seems like it is to close to the flywheel, or to far away, it sounds diffrent then it used to when it starts. And BTW, i still have delayed start problem. Post any question if you have any, thanks agian!!!

The SES could be if you removed the solenoid for the EGR. In that case, the SES will (or so I hear) come on. I left all the EGR stuff connected, but just blocked the connection at the header with a plate. It keeps the exhaust from entering the EGR system, but the whole thing is still connected. Mine is programmed out. There is no need to remove all the stuff, unless you want to. Even with OBD-I, you could still trip the test for EGR operation.
The noise from the clutch, who knows. Is the starter shimmed correctly? I had an older SBC that needed to have a replacement starter shimmed to work right. There is going to be some variation in the flywheel, maybe enough to need shimming.
The noise from the floor? Maybe the bolts on the crossmember or mounts?

Well the noise is at the driver side floor board, there is no cross member there. I am clueless as what i can be? Y pipe? But i didn't move it, hehe. So you think the starter needs more shimming?
Re: Few issues after my little project, need alittle help. LONG!

EGR sets a light if you remove the noid, air doesnt as long as you keep fuse in.
I have my switch off and for some reason my low speed fans are on ALL the time, why is this?
Do you have the low speed wire connected to ground all the time?
Thats all i can really help with

ok i pluged the EGR noid back in and the ses light went away and the fans stoped being on all the time. The MAIN problem that is REALY bothering me now is the thing that is hitting the driver side floor board or somewhere around it. It cant be the Y pipe, I did nothing with it the whole project. I was thinking, and then thought of this. COULD it be the oil cooler lines? I did move them out of the way and neglected to but the brace back on the line that holds them close together toward the front of the motor. But it is secure attached to the oil filter unit with that one bolt. What do you all think? Its getting VERY annoying.
