felpro bolt question?

Question felpro bolt question?

im currently doin head gaskets on my 96 impala , and i purchased felpro head bolt. i noticed that they alredy come with some kind of thread sealant , should i just install them like that or do i need more thread sealant?

I always wipe a little extra on as well.

Permatex brand thread sealant is what I'm currently using.

Make sure it's thread sealant and not typical RTV.

one more question are they supposed to come with washers, because the ones i bought dont. i have cast iron heads . the new bolts have a flange

actually i dont think they do.... you need to check on the toque specifications.

i think it was 96 when they used the torque to angle method, but not sure... and that was aluminum heads also, so you really need to go to fel-pros site and make sure what torque method they use for your particular application..

on old gen1 blocks and i think up to 95 they used the regular 3 step torque method 25/50/65ftlb of torque that eveyone that has put a small block together uses.. i believe from 96 and newer they use the torque to angle method where you need the small angle designator thing on your torque wrench...

why you using cast iron heads if you dont mind me asking?

well im keeping the engine stock. alluminum heads would be nice but im tryin to get this thing on the road cheapest way possible. its just a daily driver. so your saying i'll be oka without using washers on the head bolts
