Re: Fastest/Quickest NA Hot Cam 4th Gen F-Body

By default I may be among the fastest only due to the fact most people N/A has already gone to a bigger cam, and/or boost, and I have restrictions.

Well I have a HC 383 from Nu-tekmotorsports (i asked them to use the cam due to emissions...

I have run a best of 12.084 at 113 with 1.733 60 foot on Nitto 245/50-16 dr and falken tires up front and a 3700 pound race weight.

At the time of the race I had a 4L60e with a pro torque 2000 rpm stall, stock ds, and stock 10 bolt with 3.23 gears in the rear. At the time also and I didnt know it until the beginning of this year my tranny was dead... the fuild pressure selinoid went and it was just eating up the clutches and the posi was shot in the rear (108k on it lol).

Also stock suspension, with exception of rear LCA's, no relocation brackets.

On top of that I had a missfire that was very intermittent.

Aside from all the excuses I did that best time. I was PLANNING on getting a 11 second slip this year, but I decided to upgrade the rear before the season started so I can throw on all my BMR suspension peices and put a pair of slicks or even stickier tires on her....

Well the rear end job took like 2 months, most of which was due to waiting for a Denny's 3" steel n2o ready DS, which took 5 weeks from when I ordered and it was shipped. Also removing the rear and putting the new one in and getting the meausrements for the custom ds.

Then I get all that sorted out and now I am in July, and I get the BMR tq arm, SFC's, pan hard rod put on as well as relocation brackets for the LCA's and then come to find out my tranny died.

The clutches were burnt and had the consistancy of oatmeal... Not good. So I get that rebuilt and put a 2500 rpm stall on her. That works out fine, but still have a missfire, now hitting stall wall with the converter, and I started a new job and I work 2 so no time to get to the track.

Come to find out later on my FP took a dump and I put the racetronix unit in and its mint, the missfire went away and I dynoed the car. Through the stronger driveline I did 351 rwhp at 6000 rpms on a mail order tune.

As of September/OCtober of this year, the car is ready to run, I fixed the stall wall but the weather has not cooperated at all. I hope to get my 11 second slip with a cam from Bret Bauer.

But anyways here are some of my fastest recorded times with the combo last year.....

Sweetred95ta went 12.20's with a stock shortblock, edelbrock shorties, 3.73's and a vig 3600. Motor had 130k on it. Full weight, no suspension at all with some heavy *** 17 in wheels. And 150 lbs worth of speaker bs in the back. Hotcam kit with mild headwork.

Sounds like he was on his way, too bad he didnt decide to take his boat anchor of a stereo out of the car.

Oh and my time was run at Lebenon Valley Dragway in upstate NY, anyone who runs in the North east knows how bad this track is and taks god they live near either NED, Maple, Cecil, E-town, atco or anywhere else but here

Re: Fastest/Quickest NA Hot Cam 4th Gen F-Body

Ken from this board with a 95z went 11.80'@113-114mph about 2 yrs. ago with a stock bottom LT1, Hotcam kit, stock rear with 3.42's and stock heads. This was at the Thunder race a couple years ago. He also ran 11.90's@112mph at his home track in OK. His car had some nice 60's and ran well. I ran 12.20's@111mph with my Hotcam setup awhile back also when it was my daily driver. Those setups work real nice for a streetcar no doubt. Later Clint

The hotcam is very similar to my cam and should be able to net similar results. Our track is at 900 feet.

Re: Fastest/Quickest NA Hot Cam 4th Gen F-Body

Comp XE 224/230 is not very similar, its not the same.... duration alone can make a huge difference.

218/ 228, .525 / .525 112 LSA hotcam

224/230, .536 / .544 112 LSA CC503

This was a cam I was looking at to upgrade mine to, but decided to go to bret and get a custom one. I have one more chance at LVD, or i might have to suck it up and go to the NJ tracks.
