Fastest N/A LT1 in a 4th gen?

Who is the current fastest person running a normally aspirated LT1 right now? What kind of power are they making, what do they run in the quarter, and I'd be curious to know anything about their setup... Just wanna know what my competition is

Thanks
Chuck

id have to say mindgame's car at low 10s. however I personally dont consider it an lt1, other people might. Still badass though, and props to him for being different.

he has custom headers, sbc heads, intake, etc.

Yeah, it's a fine line on what to consider an LT1 or not. At this point I wished I hadn't bothered with all this LT1 crap. Once you get to a certain point, you realize you didn't need to build an LT1 for any reason at all, unless you are competing in a class that requires the stock block, and stock style heads. What kind of heads did he use? And what is he using for injection?

I think it's Joe Overton. 9.86@134mph.

Not yet. I'm waiting on Jesel right now for some parts. Once I recieve that I should be able to finish assembling the motor, then I'll get it on the dyno. If they're running high 9's though, I probably won't be able to compete. I'm shooting for mid to low 10's. Might have to pull the heads off and get a little more air out of them. They're only 213cc's, so I've got some room to work with at least

chuck,
are you gunning for a 9-second ride... looking to compete with some of these faster cars?

my opinion for what its worth... work out your current combination when you get everything together. especially work at getting weight out of the car and tuning the suspension. once you have that down, look at adding more power.
one of the bigger mistakes guys make is they shoot for an engine with killer hp yet the rest of the car is way underdeveloped to use it. with what you've got, you should have an easy time with low 10's, get the weight out and cut the 60' times down to 1.3 seconds or better and you're a serious competitor. like i've said before, most of it is in the suspension.

good luck,
JB

Mindgame ran 10.42@137.1 and was only allowed one run btw. Higher MPH definately could mean more HP... So if he got more traction, i bet he would be faster than Joe.

But i do agree with Chuck. There is only so much money you can Sanely dump into an LTx before you ask yourself why. There are many TONS of heads that could be used to make a insane n/a LT1... but anyone that has looked at this has though "Well if im spending $5-10k on a top end, why use a weak and limiting LTx block"? You can spend the same if not less money on a dif block, and have much more reliability/cubes/power. [/off topic rant off]

Thumbs up

No doubt about it, our good pal Joe is getting to the line alot quicker than I am. I've got a lot of things to sort out before I'm gonna be there but my mph gives me some faith.

Jeff is right though. You can see what happens when a guy sticks a strong motor in a car that isn't really built for it in my situation. It moves out real well but she don't stick too well......yet.

Good luck to you Chuck.
