Fastest cam under 6200rpm?
Hello everyone, I've been lurking on this board for a while now trying to decide on a cam for my M6 93 Z28, but haven't really come to a solid conclusion. I realize there are 8 trillion Cam threads but none seemed to address my concern of keeping my motor under 6200-6300rpms.
I've narrowed it down to the Hotcam, CC305, CC503 and GM846. The last two I suspect will need to see more rpms than I want, but I'm not positive. I'm basically looking for what cam will make my car the fastest while shifting at 62-6300rpms. The car has all the boltons and will get a pcmforless tune.
I also have to pass a CA dyno smog : (

I went as fast as 12.06 @ 112.81 with my XE 224/230 grind. I'm a big fan of the XE grind although I'll be removing it soon in favor of a larger grind and ported heads.
Those times are with stock untouched heads. My A4 was shifting at 6250 rpm.

You couldn't even tell i had a cam in it, its a great sleeper cam. And I miss all the lowend, that thing pulled like crazy from any RPM. If I could do it over I woulda just left that cam in my car..

I have a zz3 cam which is slightly smaller than the Crane 227 210/224 and during the shifts it is topping 6K, the HOT cam and such will have to rev much higher. IMO talk to a custom grinder like Bret or go with something "small" like the 227 there.
