Fastest on a 355?
For all you 355 guys what is the most power you are amking out of those mean little devils. I know they are just a forged rebuild that doesnt gain much but witht he forged internals you can run better heads and a bigger cam correct? Well thats what i wanna know. Can you dip into the 11s with this?

internals have nothing to do with power. I can have a cast crank and crappy sock type pistons and still make the same power as one who has thousand invested in a forged set up. but thats na when power adders are added they rule.

I think he already understands that the extra 5 cubes isn't adding significant power, and is right in his statement that you can run more power through an aftermarket bottom end. I don't own one, but yes they are out there.
So much depends on suspension and weight. Maybe you should ask about a specific HP level. Atljar went 11s on the stock 350 bottom end AND stock heads! he used a large cam, deep gears, skinnies, and some bitchin good weather. So if you make good choices with a 355 and nice topend it shouldn't be a problem at all.

What type of computer, stock? Carb?
As mentioned, lighter and balanced can make more rwhp, but also correctly gapped rings for the application.
You can have a killer bottom end, but gap your rings wrong it will negate if not cost you rwhp.

believe whatever you want............but this is what ive seen
stock bottom, heads/cam .....high 11's.
355 bottom, heads/cam.....knocking on 10's, and some are in the 10's.

My last engine was a 355. stock rods and crank. TRW pistons. home ported heads. stock intake valves 1.6 exaust valves. 306 cam and 1.5 roller tip rockers. I went 11.56 at 118 in the 1/4 NA and 11.09 at 124 on a 150 shot. I sold the engine runnning perfect. I have a 383 now.

so basically a 355 is just a forged bottom end. How much of a price difference am i looking at between a 355 bottom end or a 383 bottom end? I saw a short block from Nu tek motorsports for around 3200. That isnt bad in my book. What about Combitnation motorsports. I have nothing but good things about them on here. How does their price compare to Nu tek?
TIA!!

no.......a 355ci is when you take a 350ci engine and bore it .30 over for slightly larger pistons........thats why it only gains 5ci..........but it can be forged or cast or whatever..........most people just get forged because, while the engine is apart, might as well use the best parts.
