Fast 60'--slow times?

I was just wondering what I should be looking at here, my best time last year I ran a 1.76 60' which isn't the greatest, but I could barely trap 100mph and ran like a 13.4 Mind you this is almost at sea level. I always thought that 1.70 60's were more like 12sec car 60's.

I really wondered what you guys though I should be looking at. I am just finishing up new valve springs and Pro Mag rockers, and nitrous install from this winter. I really want to get the bugs worked out before I start spraying it. I also am going to be getting a Datamaster and logging a few runs very soon, othewise I have no idea what is going on.

Any ideas of what I should be looking at?

1.76 is a pretty darn good 60', or it's a **** 60', depending on the conditions and the setup you were using when you accomplished it. Tires, suspension, rear end, transmission, launch technique, air temp, track temp, track prep...

13.4@100 with a 1.76 60' sounds about right to me. You've got decent traction, and I'd guess about 260rwhp. Had you done many horsepower mods to your LT1 when you made that pass?

Re: Fast 60'--slow times?

To an extent your 60' has to do with power. But its more about traction. I am sure some auto stock lt1s with slicks could dip down to 1.7.

I am in the 12s on street tires with 2.1+ 60 times. I am sure I have a 12.0 of high 11 setup with a really good 60 time.

13.4 @ 100mph is awesome. I was running 14.1-14.2 when I was trapping 100 mph

The two are related, but not in an sort of linear or straight foward way. Its all about traction in the 60'. Ever see some of those cars run 12.0 @ 100mph with the insane 60'.

MPH ~ HP
ET & 60' ~ traction

Re: Fast 60'--slow times?

I say you have nothing to worry about. Once you start spraying a 150 will take to to 12.0 ish with what you have now. If you can hook it off the line maybe even faster.

I would say your times are pretty good for no more mods than you have. What was your actual mph? You said barely 100, is that 101, or 105? Big difference.

Ive got some tuning to do, I am only seeing 112mph and know that it has more in it.

so a good 60' will show a slower trap speed? This stuff always did confuse me. I ran 14.7 stock i believe at like 101. it's just weird that the trap never goes up, maybe because I don't have too many hp mods.

98-100mph trap speeds consistantly. I believe it was 99.?? mph in that particular run.

I hope you mean 1-3/4" headers, not 3/4".

I'd say you have about 20-25hp worth of power adder mods on that list, and a really good start on a great traction setup.

Was it hot that day?

Re: Fast 60'--slow times?

I ran almost the same exact time to weeks ago 1.78 60' 13.4 @ 100, here is a pick of my car launching on that run. This was actually a new best 60' but my ET and MPH were down from my best last season. I would say traction was pretty good, but the weather was worse that day causing the power drop...

That's plenty warm for good traction, but you'll have more horsepower and therefore more MPH in October.
