fans wont come on after waterpump and opti install

it my friends 95 z28 M6 and car runs great and water pump runs and surprisingly it runs really cool even thought the fans donnot kick on. oh the water pump is the CSI elec. one. i checked all the fuses and made sure that the fans were pluged in and everything looks good in that department. the fans are on the factory setting but they should kick on before 240. i am pretty sure that i got all the air out of the system because coolant comes out of the 2 valves when the car is running.

IIRC the fans don't come on until 235 or 240 degrees. However, you probably have air in the system, especially if you had the bleed valves open with the W/P running. What I do to bleed my system is fill the radiator with both of the valves open. When there is only coolant coming out of the water neck valve go ahead and close it. Continue adding coolant until only coolant is coming out of the heater hose bleed valve. Top off the radiator, install the cap, and drive the car around(or let it idle) enough to open the thermostat. Now park the car on an incline and let it cool. Top off the coolant after it cools and you should be good to go. I tried running the W/P with the valves open and all it does is suck in more air. This method has worked for me at least 10 times. I'm sure there's other ways to do it, but these cooling systems are a pain to fill, and I don't want to rely on the overflow tank to take care of air in the system. Good luck!

oh the side of the head on the drivers side, there is a plug with one wire on it... that coolant sensor tells the fans when to kick on. Make sure that's plugged in.

I thought that one was just for the guage and the one on the pump controlled the fans. I could be wrong but I changed the one on my pump just a few months ago and I remember asking if that was the one for the fans.

Yeah, the sensor for the ECM(fans) is on the W/P, while the sending unit for the gauge is on the driver's side head. You do not need to drain the system and start over. Simply top off the radiator and warm up the engine until the thermostat opens. Park the car on an incline and wait for it to cool. Most if not all of the air will migrate to the top of the radiator, so you can top it off once the engine cools down. If you're absolutely sure that the system is full, let the care idle and watch the temp gauge. The fans should come on "low" slightly before the gauge is in the red(top 1/4 of scale), and if it's hot enough outside they'll switch to "high" around 250 degrees. You may just not be getting the engine hot enough to activate the fans. A much simpler way to check the fans is to turn on the A/C. The fans should come on "low" any time the A/C is on.

yes i tried the A/C and the fans do come on low speed. i hooked a diagnostic tool up and made the fans come on and shut off so the wiring is good to the fans. this car isnt mine but the guy who owns its says that it normaly doesnt run that hot.
