fans run all the time

I have a question about my fans running as soon as I start my car. They start running about 5 to 10 second after I start it . If I turn the ignition on with no start they stay off. just wondering if anybody has had this problem. I just got it back from a trans rebuild. Checked everything out and looks ok to me. Also I have the manual fan switch that SLP sells but it was working fine when I took it for the trans rebuild.

thanks
Josh

Any codes? Is your service engine soon light on? If not, are you sure the bulb is good? It should light up when you first turn the key on, then go off.

Ususally the fans will stay on if a code is tripped.

I'm sorry but yes the SES light is on and the guy that did my rebuild said it was a O2 code but didnt give me the number. I dont have a scanner and was wondering where can I get one or have my car scanned. The light comes on as soon as I start it and then the fans kick on. Oh yeah just put in new O2's as well.

thanks

Take it to a local Autozone and have them pull the code for you. Once you have the code, we can start troubleshooting. There are a multitude of things which cause the fans to come on, and without the code there is no way to determine a starting point.

An auto parts store may be able to scan it for you...they want to sell you the parts to fix it

You could have a bad harness leading to your O2 sensors.

Mine was doing the same thing when I bought it..2 weeks ago. It was the smog air pump (20amp) fuse under the hood. That fixed mine. Doug

I took it to advance and auto zone and they said all they can scan is the OBD2 computers 96 and up. Also I have a pcmforless computer tune that he disabled the smog pump if that helps any. I guess I will take it to the dealership.

thanks

You may have some kinda wiring issue i saw you had a switch. Check your wiring and see if you can find a short to ground anywhere.
