Fans not working

I have a 94 z28. My fans are not working , the only time they work if I disconnect the MAF. When I turn on the A/C they still will not kick over. When the car get hot still nothing.

Is your a/c otherwise working ok? I would monitor it with a scanner to see when the fans are being commanded on and whether they are responding to that command.

The A/C turns on but the air is warm, never gets cold.

That could be why the fans don't come on with the a/c. The pressures have to reach a certain threshold. For normal fan operation, fans don't come on until 226°. If the engine is not getting that hot, then they are not going to come on.

So I have to get the A/C charged for the fans to come on?

For them to come on with the a/c, it seems. They should work normally by engine temperature.

Hey shoebox thank you for the info, I will get the car scanned before I make any other moves. What scan tool should I get? Autoxray snap-on etc, I notice the prices are in the hundreds.I am willing to by one just want to make the right choice.

Probably a blown fuse or fan relay. My fans wouldnt come on w/ the engine reached its temp, but would when the A/C was on. I got my pcm tuned and now they come on just fine. Another guy on here had the same problem. Sometimes hte PCM just glitches up, even resetting it didnt help.

Any decent scanner that fits your needs/budget will do.
