fans affect idle ?

ok i have been chasing an idle problem for a while, and stumbled on a wiring job done to the fans, where someone disconnected them from the factory harness and then installed his own relay in between to where they come on when the key is on. normally i wouldnt consider this a problem except for the fact that he used the original power for the factory relay to power his current set-up ... i disconnected it and the car jumped up in idle, and actually idled fine for me.. i took a jumper wire and ran it to the battery direct, and it didnt put the draw on the engine, that it does when i run it through that original relay power wire.... so my question is, by using the power from the original relay am i causing a faulse reading that is making my car have a funky idle ??

no no manual switch anywhere.. it is wired direct with a key-on powered source, so it is on anytime that he vehicle is in the run position.

If I disconnect my MAF sensor my car will idle a lot higher. Check for air leaks in your air intake system and plug any holes. I had a small open port in my intake elbow AFTER the MAF sensor and it idled high until I plugged it. Much like the chevy pickups used to do, if the intake leaks it will run up the idle. I've seen chevy pickups with gaskets leak that will Idle as high as 2500 rpms because its trying to compensate for the increase of air.

But that's just an area to look at. Could be other things.
