Here is one I made up. it lets you control the fans, but also, the computer still controls them like normal when the car is on. You can even lock up your car at the track with the fans on. The old way would not let you do this unless you had a spare key.

would I want to run the fan for more power or run it before I want the power then cut it off?

i have the SLP version (kindda pricey) and it has a Hi and Low setting, and the Off position allows the fans to be controlled by the computer as normal.

if the car is hot, low will keep the temp stable, at the temp you are at when you turn it on (least my experience). and the Hi setting will pull the temp down to the normal driving temp. i had a 160 stat in and it would hover just above the 160 line on my guage even in the hottest weather.

it's handdy for track and for when you get stuck in traffic.

there is a unit being sold on the GP forum right now for $30 i think.

the only problem with switches are that you can leave the fans runniing, Low is barely audible from outside the car. i've drained my battery QUICK like that...

One of the best mods I've done so far I think. As said above, you have total control over the fans aswell as the computer. Very nice when staging, low maintanes the temp, hi drops it to moving temp. I have the radio shack version, costs about $12 for everything and about 2-3 hrs of time. Well worth it in my opinion.

The way mine is done, both fans are on at the same time so it is kinda loud. Plus the only time I use it is at the track. We are always around the cars, so its hard for me to forget. Also, there is a short checklist I do in the staging lanes, and that is part of it, turning the fans off.
I have left mine running for 20+ minutes, before and my car still starts. Everycar is diffenent, so keep an eye on yours when they are running.
This really is not a performance Mod. It is just something to help you keep your temps down, say at the track. If you are having over heating problems, you need to fix that first. Dont just Band-Aid the problem.
The Radio Shack version is just, buying the parts at Radio Shack and mak you own, instead of buying a kit.

Do you think you could provide us with at least a vague write-up? Part numbers or descriptions perhaps?

Dude just get one from the group purchase on here, go look. It is a sweet deal $27.00 to your door with your choice of color of two LED's and all hardware. That is a sweet deal. I just ordered mine, I am glad I didnt miss out on it. Ends very soon I believe.
