Fan distance from radiator- LT1

I'm having cooling problems since I installed my 383 w/ P600B Procharger. I made a Perma-Cool dual fan mod by replacing the stock fans w/ two 12" Perma-Cool fans, and the car overheated terribly at idle (all air was bled out of the system prior to the road test, both fans were running, so I don't think the problem was coolant flow or air in the system). One thing I have not thought of until today when I looked at it was the distance the fan blade is from the radiator. The Perma-Cools were right on top of it, 1/4" away or less. I noticed the stock fans have a much larger gap, about 3/4" or more.

Other related mods/info include:
Stock AC condenser
Be-Cool 4th gen specific radiator
160 thremostat
Perma-Cool 8.5x11 oil cooler on passenger side of radiator/condenser
11" pusher fan on driver side of radiator/condenser
Fog lights removed & 5" holes cut in bumper reinforcement w/ 5" hoses clamped to openings & air directed to front of the oil cooler & above pusher fan
Sides of radiator/condenser sealed with silicone to block any air flow around the radiator/condenser
The front air dam is in place
The windshield washer resorvoir & plastic panels were removed to mount an intercooler, which has since been removed (I thought the IC was the initial overheating problem due to it blocking most of the incoming air)

The car never overheated with the stock fans & the stock LT1. I have not driven it enough on the road at speed to determine if there is overheating at that time.

I'm looking for tech info on this, as my options at this point are to pull the P600B and run NA with the stock fans or to try & space out the Perma-Cool units if this will make a difference. I know there will be space conflicts doing this with the spring loaded tensioner I put on the P600B as well as possibly with the 8 rib blower pulley.

As a side spacing issue, my P600B had to be spaced out 5/16" from the block to match the supplied crank pulley when it was mounted to a Fluidamper. I can have the crank spacer trimmed this amount & this will give back a little room for the fans.
