? on false ignition knock

My headers are hitting my heat shield on my car and it is rattling like crazy, my question is can that rattling from the header hitting cause the pcm to retard the timing and cause a false knock? My car has a tune from pcmforless for my boltons and when i use to have nitrous so i know it has timing pulled already but some times it feels like the car is nose diving like there is a timing retard issue. Can the knock module be deleted from the pcm? Thanks

The knock module cannot be deleted. You can have the knock sensor circuit programmed to your liking though.

But the obvious thing to do here would be to fix your heat shield. Not to mention get the car on a scanner to see if you're getting false knock.

Several things can cause this issues, ign, fuel, tune, ect...

my question is can that rattling from the header hitting cause the pcm to retard the timing and cause a false knock? Yes, its possible.

My brothers old car had a very bad rattle but when tuned they normally desensitize the knock module so it would hardly affect performance.

There was a huge improvement... I cant belive the difference. It had to be retarding timing.
