Factory Service Manual

Ok, I'm looking for a factory service manual for my '96 Z28 and I'm not sure where to go to find one. I've searched the forum a bit but didn't find anything directing me to what I was looking for. Could someone direct me to a website or a thread that I could use to buy a factory service manual? I have factory service manuals for my other vehicles and I've become quite spoiled because of them so I'm looking to get one for the newest addition.

Re: Factory Service Manual

Used ones from Ebay or other online resellers are the best value. You can buy new ones from http://helminc.com .

Thanks for the tip. Have you used this company yourself? The book set I looked at (which seems to be the right one for my car but I'm not sure) seems to be much cheaper than I expected. Here's the set that strikes me as the correct item I'm looking for: http://www.helminc.com/helm/product2...JJJGFLKLNDF706

Wow, the prices have come down! That's good news. I have bought many a manual from Helm over the years. They print the GM manuals and it's the only place you can buy them new (except for maybe the dealer-and they still get them from Helm).

Re: Factory Service Manual

That sounds like what I am looking for. The thing that strikes me as odd is that the one for my Stealth was about $80-90 and the one for my Jeep was almost $100; I'm really suprised to see this one to be only $70 new. I'll poke around on eBay for one and hopefully I'll have some luck (I didn't in the past with the previous ones I've purchased, they were still expensive). Any idea where I can order factory direct GM parts through the internet?

They were $120 a set, not that long ago.

You can order online from http://gmpartsdirect.com/ , but their shipping can be way high and they have no phone-in customer service (can be an issue if you have a problem). I recommend these contacts.

Re: Factory Service Manual

The reason they are cheap at Helm is that they are running a sale until the end of the year. Factory manuals are half-price. This is for most GM manuals.

Re: Factory Service Manual

Oh ok. So, it is just coincidence that it happens to be as cheap as it is. Either way, it works for me.
