factory alarm question........help

When i lock my 97 z i get the 2 whoop whoop sounds telling me that the alarm is armed. But here is the problem....everytime i lock my car about 4 secs after the initial 2 whoops there is 2 loud Honk! Honk! and then it stops. It is very annoyying and can be embarassing having my alarm go off everytime i lock my car. Is there something that i can do to fix this? anyone know? thanks for any help.
