Are the expensive oil and oil filters worth the money?

...like Purolator Pure One, K&N, mobil one filters, and then the synthetic motor oils?

I change my oil every 3000 miles on my 97 TA and just bought a regular purolator filter and some regular mobil oil today. I drive fairly normally and only get on it once in a while.

I'm wondering if it would realy make a difference in engine wear to use the synthetic and better filter. How much more life can you expect?

try the Bosch filter, its a good filter and is only 4.99. I always use mobil 1 syn oil though. There is no way i would spend 12.00 for the mobil 1 oil filter though.

EDIT: you can buy the full syn mobil 1 10-30 oil for 18.00 at walmart for a 5 quart container, pretty good if you ask me

mobil one is the only thing i will run as far as oil.

For filters, i buy the cheapest ones i can find. The prolines are my favorite. $2 from pep boys. Horrible filtering, but they give me the pressure i want. Rather have great oil pressure and have to change the oil more often than bad pressure with very clean oil. JMHO. I change the moible 1 every 2-2.5k

Use a NAPA race filter and ROYAL PURPLE 21. This is on a new engine. Will be used very little on the street. Royal Purple claims 10 more HP.
