Exhaust Valve Color

Any idea what causes an exhaust valve to discolor like this?

The plugs and the combustion chambers all look the same and normal.

is it just that exhaust valve or are any of the others the same way? My guess if its just that one... cracked head. Notice the rust on the valve and unless you've been poking around in the hole with a finger or tool how the carbon is less built up in that port than the one right next to it. Though that combustion chamber shouldn't look the same as the others. I also see signs of an exhaust leak around that port. Perhaps its just a really odd looking burnt valve. barring those two possibilities. perhaps an evil spirit inhabits your engine and that valve is the gateway to its hellish home.

Looks like it's running hot. Could be burnt/cracked. The valve and seat need to be checked.

That was a picture of number 4. 1 and 3 look the same. It only has about 500 miles on it since the heads were done.

Have you done the tb bypass yet? also you might be running lean, have you been bouncing off the rev limiter?

Yes, The TB is bypassed. The wideband numbers have always been within range during the tuning sessions. The car has been run on the dyno many times attempting to diagnose a couple of other issues I have had.

I have added the link that descibed the other issues I have been dealing with.

How much KR were you getting at 6200 rpm? And do you have any way of sending me your tune bin file?

I do not have the tune file. CAM has done the tuning for me. I have a scan done on the last dyno run.

I don't have datamaster, il'l look for something to convert it to another format later... one possibility is you were getting so much KR it was burning the valve, any idea what your egts are/were?

No, I do not know the EGTs. The rest of the valves look good. It was only 1,3 and 4 with 4 being the worst. Thanks for your help.

Il'l try to look at your datalog later today and post back asap. TBH tho I wish someone like SStrokerAce or Injuneer would reply. All I can do is take a shot in the dark. That valve is just weird. If you have an engine builder thats local definately show it to him. Are you running any exotic materials for the valves? are they sodium filled? Were you experiencing any valve float? It really looks like you had an exhaust leak around that port with the way the soot goes almost to the edge of the gasket, are the other ports with blue valves the same way?

The valves are Ferrea 6000 Series Comp Superflo. I dropped the heads off at CAM today to have them take a look. Also sent a picture to AI but have received any comments back from them.
