Which exhaust should i buy for my 97 Camaro Z28 V8??
Hi,
I am about to buy a new exhaust for my 1997 Camaro Z28 5.7 V8. The car has a 100% standard setup.
As I am new into American cars I do not know which system is the right on to buy. Should I just go to GM and buy the standard setup? Also I do not know where to look for the parts.
What I am looking for is:
- headers
- muffler (back)
... or should I just go for a complete system (??) - which one and from which shop? Should I buy standard setups or improved setups - headers etc.??
Please post your comments and links.
Thanks

pacesetter longtubes are popular among these boards as are the hooker catback magnaflow catback mufflex true duals etc. its really an open market noone really makes horrible exhausts mostly a preference issue when determining your exhaust setup as well as what your future goals are good luck

A full exhaust can add up really quickly so your budget has a big role in it. As the above guys stated, Pacesetter headers and a Magnaflow catback are some of the cheaper kits on the market, yet are still good quality.

my first upgrades was making sure all fluids were fresh, 160 hypertech thermostat, K&N cold air intake, pacesetter long tube (still waiting for install), off road y -pipe-, and im going with hooker catback and a madz28 tune, that should keep me happy for awhile i also have an ac-delete pulley that needs to go on, after that wave im going with tpi airfoil, porting intake, 1le elbow (or trickflow etc.), and strut tower bar, after that its pulleys head work cam transmission work, suspension etc. the list can go on and on it really just depends on your budget and goals

pacesetter LT, ory and GMMG. so many people dog the GMMG saying how expensive it is when Corsa and Borla are more expensive if you get the GMMG on a group purchase. I got my system for 700 shipped to my door.
I don't care what anyone says, the GMMG is the best system out there!!!

IMO any well known exhaust company is gonna sound good so I would buy whatever you can get a deal on...I bought an Edelbrock exhaust becasue I got a sweet deal on it and I get compliments all the time...the SLP system sounds good too on a buddies car so I think anything buy a reputable name will be ok...when you save some money buy better tips no autozone crappers...

Everyones going to have an opinion on what they think is the best...
Whats important to make a good reccomendation is:
1. Do you have to pass emissions? I see youre in Denmark...
2. Whats your budget?
3. How much noise are you willing to put up with?
Emmisioins alone might prevent you from running long tube headers. Answer those questiosn and then you can get some really good suggestions.

Thanks for you're replies. However, still I do not know where to buy these parts? Could you please provide me links - thanks?
1 - In Denmark we have to pass emissions. I think I will buy a cat back system and headers.
2 - Really no budget, but I will not buy expensive parts if cheaper is as good. The prices from SLP seems cheap, however I do not know if this is cheap compared to the American market?
3 - I believe the noise from the standard exhaust is okay. It is okay if it is a little lauder.
Thanks again.

Most of the more expensive exhaust systems are made from s/s. Typically, the cheaper sysems are only aluminized steel which wouldn't last as long. But just depends on what your expectations are.
