if you have factory cats, it could be them. i dont know why, but when i put my two on the left exhaust in, both cats started rattling. its just an excuse for me to get lt's and a new y. if they are going to rattle, may as well remove them entirely .

all i did to find the rattle was to beat on the pipes from the muffler to the header and listen where i was hitting. dont use metal, you hand should be good enough to get a little response from the pipes.

I can solve your problem, temporarly. I use an old serpentine belt, cut into small pieces and insert it above my intermediate pipe, which is hitting the frame of my car, I am not sure if yours is hitting in the same place or not. The serpentine belt holds in for about a month or two before it falls off. Mine only rattles above 1k rpms, so I just put my car in PARK and revved it up to 1500 rpms while my roomate found where the rattle was coming from. He put the belt on top of the pipe, then wrapped a wire around the belt to hold it in place. Its the same wire you wrap exhaust leaks with. The belt hasn't fell off in 4 months and counting now since I wrapped the belt with wire. It works perfect, and no rattle at all.
