Exhaust Question- settin myself up to be flamed

I recently purchased a 94 M6 Z28. The owner claims the exhaust is stock and by appearances it looks to be. However, it is fairly loud and has a nice deep tone. The owner said that this exhaust was only put on a limited number of z28s from the factory (Works at a dealership, seems to be knowledgable). Yet that sounds a little off to me. The first thing I thought was exhaust leak but thats not the case. Then I thought maybe a gutted cat but no evidence of that either. Has anyone heard of or come across different oem exhausts on these cars?

A dealer installed aftermarket item would not be unheard of...

Pics would def help.

Maybe you just need to get used to being around an lt1

Aside from pics, the only thing I could think would be 1LE packages, but I didnt know those packages included exhaust...

I can attest to this as well. My recently purchased 93 is sounding mighty rumbley. At first I too thought it was a leak or something, but it definitely doesn't, and it is a 100% stock exhaust. Now it is quiter than everything I've ever dealt with it definitely sounds better than the stock LT's I've ever heard.
