Exhaust question - loudmouth + cutout

I did a search but didn't come up with the answers I was looking for, so I will just post this question.
I have a 95 TA with CAI and LM exhaust with stock manifolds and cat. I love the sound of the LM, but I sometimes wish it were a bit louder. Would putting a cutout right before the cat give me the sound I'm looking for?

thanks
charlie

More than likely. Open exhaust = LOUD.

In fact, a cutout BEFORE the cat, will be extremely loud. You will not be able to hold a conversation in the car with a person without putting it in neutral.

Yep. I rode in my friends 95 T/A with the same setup. Couldn't hear a damn thing. Got worse after the headers and cam. Or should I say, got better?

Loudmouth and cutout = extraordinarily annoying and loud. No matter how loud you "say" you want your car to be, you won't want it that loud. Manifolds will be louder than headers because of the turbulence.

Can you get rid of the cat??? If so and you think it's too loud you could put a bullet muffler in place of the resinator

A loudmouth is basically the same as no exhaust other than the fact it goes through a resonator.....i would leave it.

Don't look for the loudness factor... You want tone!

Ditching the cat is a good idea, but my logic was to get a cutout in front of the cat so it would only be loud when i wanted it to be loud.

I've been looking at the ones at www.pepboys.com
But I think you can get them from summit and jegs too.
They run about $30-$40, and the electric cutouts are much more expensive.
