Exhaust Question, 3in Y w/dual QTP's or Dual 2.5's with QTP's?
Exhaust Question, 3in Y w/dual QTP's or Dual 2.5's with QTP's?
I have two electric cutouts and I am deciding what I am going to do with the rest of the system.
My orginial plan was to build a 2.5in X pipe system and put the cutouts on it and put some bullets behind them and then go over the axle.
My new idea (due to money constraints) is to build a 3 inch Y pipe coming out of my JetHot's and put the cutouts right behind the header on both sides, then go past the transmission, Y them together and use my flowmaster cat back.
I want the setup to make great power, but noise is also an issue. I live in an apartment complex, and I have to be somewhat quiet when I am coming home.
The car is going to be running longtubes, no cats, cc306 and a 3200 stall converter. So being quiet wont be in this cars vocabulary, but I have to be as close as possible. Thats why the Y setup looks good to me, not as much ground clearance issues, my flowmaster is pretty quiet, and with the cutouts I doubt it will hinder power much.
I just want to know what you guys think.
Thanks,
James
PS-sorry this is so long!

Hahaha, a day after I post a simple exhaust question, the only response I get is someone trying to sell a y-pipe.
Thanks for the offer, but whatever I do, I will end up building it at a buddies exhaust shop.
Funny how some kid asks which catback makes the most power, and he gets 40 responses. I ask if there is any power left on the table by doing dual cutouts on a Y-pipe versus dual cutouts on a X-pipe setup and nobody has an answer.

This kind of stuff can and should be left off my post and this forum in general.
