Arrow Exhaust Question

Ok... I was wondering.. what is the stock Exhaust on a 1996 Camaro Z-28... the brand, headers and such... the one that gives the V-8 a kind of bubble gurgle noise... I'm curious to this cause I'm thinking of putting something like that on my Second Gen camaro...

thanx for the info on this exhaust type.

The stock system has no headers and all the parts are just stock GM parts-no particular brand that I know of.

tormie,

chances are you wouldn't be able to get those parts to match up correctly, and if you could you probably wouldn't want them. Look for an inexpensive cat back exhaust and that will give you a much better sound and gain some performance as well. Trying to fit GM parts would be super expensive, your money would be better spend on a $300 Hooker cat back, or a $300 SLP Loud mouth

The stock cat-back was made by Arvin Exhaust for GM. This was a design specific to that car and pipe configuration. It's kind of restrictive for a performance application. The y-pipe/cat assembly was made by Delphi. I'm not sure who cast the manifolds.

Well its mostly to make the car quiet... everyone in this neighborhood is a B! and calls the cops when they hear the car running... not to mention the wife would like it to be quieter too...

Try dynomax's website. They make quiet performance exhaust systems that still have a rumble to them. Itll sound and look better than a OEM system without being obnoxious. I'd also suggest running a set of headers on that car as opposed to the stock manifolds. They make a few kits for 2nd gen cars, depending on the application. You can get a set of dynomax coated long tubes from somewhere like jegs or summit for cheap.
