exhaust question

i want to put a new cat back exhaust system on my car. its the original exhaust. i cant really afford the borla or corsa setups. i have aprox 400 to spend. i was thinking of either mac or slp loudmouth. it must be emissions legal and i dont want it too loud at idle cuz my parents will kill me if its too loud. just wondering what your opinions would be. thanks

For 400 bucks and not too loud, i would suggest either the Hooker Areo Chamber cat back for 300, and get it coated so it doenst rust because it is aluminumized, it offers a nice rumble all through out the Rpm range and isnt too loud at idle but gets loud at WOT. Or the eddle brock stainless performer RPM series cat back. It is jsut over 400 i think. Those exhausts are both good for the cost and sound minded induvidual.

There is also the SLP TOL (two out on the Left) exhaust, i dont recall how much this runs but is a lot more mild than the Loud Mouth.

However the Loud Mouth is just about the best bang for the buck on the market right now. It is very loud was intended and tuned to sound great on cars that are going to remain almost stock.

Yep, the Loud Mouth's are loud, actually to the point of obnoxious. I think I remember seeing a post on here the other day where someone said that the Loud Mouth's start to sound pretty bad (meaning-not good) if you add headers to them. At least I think it was the Loud Mouth. But, I think it would all depend on the type of sound you are looking for. I'm kinda partial to Flowmaster. I don't think that you can get a better sound then they will give you...IMHO. Nice at idle and kind of a roar at WOT. And, when you add headers, they just start to sound mean

You can probably get a few sound clips from some of the people on the board to listen to a few differant set ups if you wanted.

Yeah, I'd like to hear some sound too. I'll be changing my exhaust soon and I'm trying to choose between Hooker and the Loud Mouth. I'll be adding headers later, so that might seal the deal toward hooker. Just how loud is this "Loud Mouth?"

Run a search for sound clips.... you can find clips ofmost any exhaust. They were helpful in my decision to go with Magnaflow catback. Good luck!

Thanks,

Mike
