Exhaust question?
I picked up my car today and it sound's great but when you let off the gas it pops loud and is a little raspy sounding it has a 3 inch magnaflow exhaust,Mac headers,Off road pipe, and it is supercharged..will it sound better with the cut-out open or worse and what can i do to make it not have that crackling-poping noise ..Thanks
that crackling popping noise is fuel that wasnt burned during compression , and since you have a straight through exhaust, (headers O R pipe and 3 in exhaust) the sound isnt deadened , after my buddy gutted the cat on his 95 z you could hear crackling , so the cat deadens some of that sound, also since its supercharged your fuel system is prolly running rich so thats why you have excess fuel thats not being combusted. im not sure what you can do about it besides put a high flow cat on .. but why not keep it that way? its sounds like a racecar then
just my $.02
just my $.02
GM likes to have its computers retain a percentage of unburned fuel in the engine with the stock exhaust in place. Open tjis flow up, and the unburned fuel, some of it, goes out the exhaust pipe now. This is the unburned fuel igniting JJJ93Z is refering too. Its common dont worry about it. Most cars, even stock have a little, if you want to kill it all off your gonna need a real restrictive exhaust set up, and screw that.
