exhaust question

I was thinking about making a custom exhaust setup, but the shops around here want too much. So i thought about doing it myself. I was wondering if there is any place on line that sells just the pipe in 3" from the cat back on a 93 z28. I was thinking of maybe taking that and reshaping the end and putting a splitter on and making two dual pipes, and putting a dynomax bullet muffler in the I pipe. I was wondering if this is a good idea or would it work to use my stock I pipe with a bullet muffler on it and try doing the tips. How would that sound? Or is it a waste trying to do this myself and better to buy an slp kit?

was that price with even the intermediate pipe. The place i called said they would have to order in an I pipe and that it would end up being about 350, and that's w/o the muffler.

I would just have a shop do it...if you don't want to go all the way back it shouldn't be a big deal. I would say $150 or so. If you did it yourself you would have to buy the pipes, mufflers, equipment to bend and weld, time, etc. By going through a shop you should get some warranty on leaks or breaks. I would just reccommned getting a bullet ~$30 and have them install some stainless steel tubing. Now if you wanted it to sound really good you could do a cai, LT's, and a true dual exhuast with an X or H pipe (converters if needed) that is the set up I am going to do...I finally heard it in person and it sounds unbelievable. Good luck!!!

i wish i could afford cai and a set of LT's, but i can't so i will be lucky to get a catback. One problem right now is i don't know if there is a shop around that has a mandrel bender or not. If they do, can they make the I-pipe and everything for that price? I'm not paying 350 like the place around me wants, i won't pay over 200. 150 isn't bad at all though if it comes with everything, plus extra for the muffler though.

i found a guy around me that has a shop and he bends pipes by push bending for an ok price, but wants alot for mandrel bending. I called him up though and he quoted me around 220-240 with the muffler and it all installed, and a lil cheaper if i wanted to weld it up myself. Is that a good price? Also, will i nothice the difference on my stock car if the pipe is just bent like he does it over the mandrel bending?
