exhaust popping while cold

well, ive been tracing an idle/misfire problem for a couple days....i replaced coil last night and while it hasnt been very long....it does seem that idle has smoothed out....but, car still has an issue when it is cold....i can hear exhaust popping every 10-15 sec.....after 4-5 minutes, the popping stops and everything is fine.....now my whole problem with misfires has been while car is cold and problem is intermittent.....i do have 2 engine codes P0443 = Evap purge solenoid; P0411 = AIR incorrect flow....someone posted this comment...Niether of those would be screwing up the car badly, unless the check valve in the AIR system were bad and/or the EEC solenoid was stuck open.

would anyone happen to know what part# would be for these parts along with approx. costs....

also, plugs/wires have about 50k on them...but im not getting individual cyl misfire codes....do you think it is worth swapping plugs even though im not seeing misfire at cyl....

thanks guys!

well, i swapped coil and thought idle was better....but that was just wishful thinking....

tonight coming home....same thing.....service engine light blinking(sign of misfires)....ran the codes.... p0300 which is random misfires.....

it seems after a 10 minutes of driving problem goes away....i dont think its plugs or wires because i think it would be opposite problem....

as engine heats up, wires that are bad break down and then arc....but this problem is only when car runs for first few minutes.....

do you know how much evap purge solenoid cost to replace....i need to try and clear codes i currently have and see if that cures my other problem.....

i havent swapped plugs yet,but i would think if a cylinder was misfiring obd2 would set code for each cylinder thats bad.....

one more thing.....does anyone have access to 1996 service manuals that they would be interested in selling....ill also post this on want ads...
thanks!

prt# 1997201 VALVE ASM - $14.67

That's for the EVAP Purge Solenoid.

I also picked up prt#17113065 which is the actual EVAP Canister (by the fuel tank). I have both these parts in my room, just haven't got them time yet to replace them. I am throwing the same EVAP Purge code as you.

I had the same thing happen to me a couple of years ago. My SES light started flashing at me, which meant random misfire. I finally figured out that it was my water pump. It was leaking and guess what's right below it??? Yep, the opti. The water was leaking into it and causing the random misfire. I caught it in time and luckily only had to replace my water pump. The opti was fine and I haven't had a problem since. It might not be your problem, but its worth checking out.

Good luck,
Jason

prior owner replaced water pump and opti last summer....not that parts cant go bad....but im hoping in this case thats not the problem....i also would think if opti was on its way out i would be seeing other codes that point to ignition issues....im pretty new at this 4th gen stuff so i could be way wrong....i want to try and correct the problems that are giving me the codes associated with evap...once i solve that and if problem still exists, then ill move onto tracing those problems....

has anyone ever had plugs/wires give you individual fault codes for whichever cylinder is bad....

thanks for comments and please keep them coming...

This might be stretching, but maybe the codes are not associated with each other. When my pump was dying on me the only code that I got was the random misfire. As for it being replaced last summer...from what I've been told its pretty easy to mess up the water pump. From what I understand, the hoses on the pump are metal and pressed in and its pretty easy to break the seals when the car is redlined. (Just as I was told)

Like I said, may not be the problem, but its worth checking out before it really messes things up. If its good, then one less thing to worry about.
