Exhaust opinions needed
Exhaust opinions needed
Ok. Well as of now I have a flowmaster cat back on my car (came with car). I am saving up for some long tubes. I think I am going with pacesetter. But my main question is should I just get the y-pipe and keep with the flowmaster cat back. Or go duals. I know duals will be a little more expensive, but I think it might be worth it in the end. I wanted to see what all of you think. Also any suggestions on headers would be appreciated too. Also, if any of you have prices for any of this, please list.
Re: Exhaust opinions needed
I would def go with the pacesetter longtubes. I really like my duals but would get sick of them if i drove the car everyday. There really loud, scrape with more then one passenger in the car, and rattle things in the car.
I had the flowmaster catback and i liked, it sounded good. Most will tell you its not the best for power but i cant see spending 300 plus dolllars just to get 2 more horse from a dif catback.

I would go with true duels, you will free up a little more HP but mostly I think you will be happier with the way it sounds I switched from Flowmaster to 2.5" Dynomax bullets I got the longest one's Summit sell's. I think they were like $40 a peice. I also got their universal X-pipe setup for $89. I spent $75 for it all to be welded up. I am very happy with the way it sounds I have vids in my sig if you want to here it.
Re: Exhaust opinions needed
If you want something that sounds awesome. I have a American Thunder flowmaster muffler with a glasspack in place of cat. Sounds awesome and really loud. I had the catalitic converter completely off...it was so loud i could not stand it.
Re: Exhaust opinions needed
How about leaving the flowmaster cat back, and install an electric cut out just before the exhaust goes over the axle? That nice straight piece of pipe is just begging for a cutout...You get nice Flowmaster sound and with a flick of the switch all hell will break loose...

Re: Exhaust opinions needed
I personally have the stock cat back with an electric cutout installed. I do plan to put headers on eventually, but I will never replace the cat back (I like the stock tips being on the car)
I just hit the switch when I want it to be loud, and hit it again when I want it to be quiet. Not sure whay anyone would spend $300++ on a catback when $200 will get you one of these .... but that's just me
Thomas.

Re: Exhaust opinions needed
I have RK Sport Headers, Random Tech Cat, and a Magnaflow cat-back. Sounds pretty good - but the Random Tech cat-back I had before had a little bit better sound to it. However, it wasn't stainless. When I took it off, there was rust literally pouring out of it. On the outside it didn't look nearly as bad.
For prices, I got the RK's for $500ish, then a few years later recoated by Jet Hot for $190 or so, the cat was $225, the Magnaflow was around $330 at the time I got it.
