exhaust leak: impossible to fix

i'll try to get pics up soon, its the easiest way to describe my troubles. coming down from the midlength pacesetters where they meet the y-pipe i have a leak on the passenger side. it wasn't too bad before, but i bought some dead-soft aluminum gaskets to replace mine with. they work awsome on the side i could actually get it onto, the drivers. the way the headers come down so close to the body and the oil pan, there is virtually no way to get a solid seating of a socket and a wrench on top of the bolt (yea i think whoever put them on before me stripped it because it gets stuck half way down) and it is near impossible to get off. i haven't taken it to any exhaust shops yet because i really don't see what else they could do. its too small of an area to fit anything i have to use a 6"-1' extension and a universal joint socket (swivel) and it still doesnt want to fit over the nut. even when i do get it somewhat on there and a wrench propped on the top of it, it won't budge loose. trust me i put a lot of force on it too because when the socket slipped off the nut the wrench (under my weight) went flying straight into my middle finger on my hand and shattered the blood under it, and soon my nail will fall off lol, its black. any ideas? again i'm gonna try to get some pics up, because when i almost had it off the first time the stupid paper gaskets kind of just crinkled out so theres basically nothing, loosing backpressure and its annoying as h*ll!

Don't know much about the parts of your exhaust system but how about this.

Disconnect the y pipe at the back and at the driver side header and lower the passenger header and y pipe together. Now you have it where you can work on it easily or take the combo somewhere to have it worked on.

Work? No?

Oh yeah and when you get there, try using these:
http://www.headerbuddy.com/headerbuddy.html

Header Buddy seals to the inside lip of the collector box. Header Buddy may fit tight in some headers, loose in others, but don't worry-it still works. Header Buddy Stock# AHB1 has a inlet I/D that fits 3" collector boxes, its outlet O/D is 2 1/2". Header Buddy was designed to eliminate collector gaskets FOREVER!

I'll be ordering mine on Monday!!!!!

Re: exhaust leak: impossible to fix

Birdman-my car was originally kept at the tech shop in Detroit for the first 15,000 miles. it was, in a way, a "prototype" because they put in the taller
6th gear and a couple other things. it was one of the first made in '94 to all the '95 specs, in the owners manual theres a lot of blank boxes where pictures would be saying "Images Yet to be Revealed." kinda rare i guess..only 26,200 original miles on it right now.

but anyway i went to meinike and got all the exhaust welded together and they used the impact gun with different nuts to hold the gaskets in. also new hangers and they made a new reducer. all for $40!!
