Exhaust "gargles"

I have an SLP loudmouth 2 on my 95 z28, it sounds awesome except when I let off the pedal after getting up to a decent, then put it on reallll easy it's like it releases pressure or something to make it gargle/backfire. Is this normal? Does it mean I may have an exhaust leak? it also pops a little when revving it up if I let of the pedal real fast.

Thanks!

Yep, even does it on my Hooker Catback. LoudMouth just makes it really easy to hear. Sounds like ***, but thats JMO.

Mine does it as well with a magnaflow catback (and headers). It sounds sweet to me, I can imagine it might kinda sound like *** with some of the louder catbacks though, I don't really like the way some of them sound anyway.

Re: Exhaust "gargles"

Chalk another one up for a Flowmaster Cat back, ORY, and Long Tubes.

Your neighbors will really get to like it on friday nights when you pull in late ...

So at any rate, the sound is normal. Just one of the benefits of having something larger in displacement than a pop(Soda) bottle.

Re: Exhaust "gargles"

My friend also has a Flowmaster on his 93. I personally think it sounds like crap when he lets off the gas but it sounds nice as hell at WOT. But the gargle noise is louder than WOT which sucks.

Re: Exhaust "gargles"

OH NO NOT THE NEIGHBOR CONVO AGAIN!! lol. Yeah, like others have said, normal, and just imagine how much worse the popping/garggle is without a CAT or with long tubes.

Re: Exhaust "gargles"

I have an LS1, not an LT1, but this happens to me all the time. I wouldn't worry too much about it, it is pretty normal.
