Ive heard a lot about an Exhaust cut-out? What exactly is that and what does it do? Also, i wanted to know if it had any 1/4 mile gains and/or any safety issues on it?

Any info is greatly appreciated

Re: Exhaust Cut-Out

It basically what it says is a cut out in your exhaust. It's a piece of metal piping kind with another pipe sticking out the side of it with a cap on the end so you can either open it or close it.

Gain very from car to car but most if not all people notice a gain and most the time it gives you maybe a .1 or to depending on how many mods you have done ect.

They are normally placed right after the cat.

When the cut out it uncapped (opened) it is louder since it is not going through the mufflers and is less restrictive.

as far as safely issues he only problem is that you cant pass emission when it open and over long trips ( lets say 30 mins) or when ever the car is at high rpms for awhile the back seat tends to get hot.

Re: Exhaust Cut-Out

Not trying to steal the post or anything, but is there more of a chance for a leak with the electric cut-out over the manual?

I'm sure it leaks a little, but I can't hear it if it does.
