Exhaust....

Hey guys,

Im new to the fourm but from what ive been reading about you guys seem to know your stuff..

Ive just purchased my first F-body and Im damn excited.... i just recently got my 96 camaro and i was looking for a complete exhaust redo....
ive heard wonderful things about Pacesetter.... and i was considering going with them... what parts would i need to get to go from the engine to the rear of the car.... how much money would i be spending?

thanks for any feedback...

Dan

Re: Exhaust....

You can find coated pace setters with their y pipe for around 500$ plus shipping. Then grab you a hooker aerochamber exhaust for under 300$ and you're done. Good sound too. There are plenty of audio clips of this set up.

Re: Exhaust....

Dan,

Yould be needing headers, y-pipe and then a catback exhaust. That would cover from the engine back. You could spend anywhere from $800 on upwards of a little over $2000. What kind of sound are you going for? Loud? Deeper tone? Higher tone? Do you have to be emissions copliant? Give us some more info and i'm sure some guys will shout out what they think would work for ya the best.

Re: Exhaust....

As mentioned above, I would factor in the little things as well as they do add up in cost:
Header Bolts
Header Gaskets
02 extension harnesses (if using long tubes)
Rear 02 simulators ( if using long tubes or any type of off-road y-pipe)
New plugs& wires (always a good idea)
PCM tune( if deleting EGR&AIR systems)
A couple cans of PB Blaster and shop rags
3" Band Clamps (optional, Pacesetter supplies u-clamps but I find the band clamps to seal just as well without distorting the pipes)

That is all I can think of right now.

Re: Exhaust....

I got Jet Hot Coated Headers and ORY all for $530, but don't take my price for it, they're a little more then that, where I work I get company prices. I'm also looking to go with the GMMG, which is the best sounding echaust other then true duals. So I'm looking at probably around $500 for the GMMG (again, where I work helps, mainly my boss is friends with some of the guys over there so he could probably help me out a bit) So I'm looking at about $1100 all said and done, my price. On average it could be up to another $300-$500 more, and again, LT's and GMMG are the best sounding exhaust on these cars.

GMMG = a pricey, yet top of the line chambered cat back exhaust, LT's = Long Tube Headers, ORY = Off road y pipe.

Re: Exhaust....

I have Pacesetter LT's with an ORY and a GMMG. I LOVE IT!!!! Oh gawd it sounds sooo good. It will get pricy though lets add up all my parts:
GMMG - 750
LT's w/ORY - 550
Madwolf Tune w/OBD I conversion - 225
9mm wires with OVC wire looms - 120
gaskets, ARP bolts, band clamps - 100
o2 Sensors - 80
o2 extensions - 40
motor mounts - 60

total - 1,725

BUT, I couldn't be happier with the setup, LOL.
