Re: exhaust ?

Are you talking about the 3 bolts that connect the stock y-pipe to the manifolds on each side? I had to break mine off to do my headers, but luckily that wasn't a concern for me Seems like it is going to be a bit of work to weld a pipe up to those flat pieces.

Re: exhaust ?

yeah all 3 on the passenger side broke. i would rather not have to take off the manifold because when i get enough money i am going to do headers but i just need a temporary fix and i guess this is the last thing i can do

Re: exhaust ?

I would replace the broken studs. Just hit them with PB Blaster and wait a day, then turn them out or drill them out.

Re: exhaust ?

I had the same problem with mine. All I did was took it to the exhaust shop and they replaced the studs for $30.

I had the most stubbornest pair in the world, no wait, in the universe! I soaked them, nothing. I ground one side down flush hoping the heat would break them, nothing. I welded a nut to the broken stud sticking out of the otherside, nothing. Finally I had to get the acetolyne torch out and heat the cast iron flange and slowly back out the bolts, one at a time. Being careful to heat the flange more so than the nut, otherwise the nut I welded would twist right off.

Re: exhaust ?

Those 6 bolts were the hardest part of my header install. I used a 2 foot breaker bar on some of them to intentionally break the bolt, and used a dremel and drill on the others just to dominate them into subsission. They were a b!tch.

I was just glad they snapped and didn't round the heads off. Then what? It's tighter than all hell in that engine bay. One side came off perfect, the other side snapped off, perfect!
