which exhaust???

i want to ditch the flowmaster and get a complete new exhaust system.....
i want borla but it is the most expensive... i saw some at bbexhaust.com and bbtriflow.com that were a little cheaper... they all claim to be the best. would the difference be worth spending a little more and getting the borla??

also what do you guys think about slp loudmouth and dynomax...

thanks

One word...HOOKER
http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=115085

Seriously though, check out that thread, it's basically a quick little review I did of my Hooker Cat-back. On another note, since that post it has loudened up a little more. In my opinion it sounds awesome. If you want the loudest, go elsewhere...if you want the best sounding go with either Hooker or Borla. Then you gotta look at price . Borla is sooo expensive. With the money you save from buying the Hooker you will have some money for something else. I also love the look of the Hooker tips...some don't, I do !!! Slp loudmouth, just too raspy for me, but thats just my opinion. I have heard dynomax, pretty loud, but again a little to raspy. Also if you do LM and then ever do headers, everyone seems to think it's just too loud. In closing I don't see why you would want to spend around 600 when you can spend around 280 for IMHO equally good sound. Feel free to PM me if you have ANY questions about Hooker or anything. Later Dude

Why dont you just get a new muffler and put in place of your current one?

Exactly, mandrel bent pipes are mandrel bent pipes no biggie there, just replace the muffler save 300 to 500 bucks and sound better.

When I get an exhaust I'm going magnaflow, from what I've read they provide one of the biggest power gains while remaining quiet at cruise.

just do an exhaust thread search in here and you'll get a whole bunch of different answers and opinions. in the end its all the owners preference.

I'd love to see/hear someone get a Dynomax Ultraflow muffler with the dual outs for our cars, I bet it would sound really good. If you have the money, the B&B Triflo sounds awesome in my opinion, although it is on the quieter side.

I got a magnaflow full 3in catback for $240 on ebay, and I like it. I got the tips rounded so they look like the ss tips...if you do a search for magnaflow it will come up and it is the one for 240 dollars. It came in 4 days and it is a real nice stainless steel kit...muffler and tips are polished stainless steel tips...looks real good for the price and I think it sounds real good. If you want a borla muffler down the road you can just add it. I had borla about 2 years ago...had to sell it because I had to buy books for class and I thought it sounded good, but it also cost me $700!!! With headers, I think the magnaflow sounds clean...but that's just my .02

I'm still a huge fan of the flowmaster, but you need to go with the catback it really smoothes the sound out. I have heard other exhausts and don't think any really compare, I like the sound of GMMG but that is really expensive and doesn't really sound any different than my flowmaster. But in the end it is all personal choice I really don't think one has a huge hp advantage over another, maybe a few hp here and there, so I would pick it based on sound.

you could go to the guys site...I think his name is scott and ask him if he would charge you less with out the tip...I don't know. It worked out good for me because I am going for the "SS" look and looks somewhat "SS". You can go to
http://www.exhaustproslinc.com/
and they have some dual chrome square tips for like $35.00 or they also have the borla tips...just trying to throw some other options to you...unless you really don't care about the cost.

I will throw my recommendation in for the SLP2OTL. I searched many threads before making the decision and am extremely happy with my choice. It is somewhat reserve until you stomp on the long pedal, then it opens up and thunders like there's no tomorrow.

One of the problems I had with buying a hooker, flowmaster, etc. was the fact that they are not stainless. I couldn't bring myself to cut a perfectly good stainless exhaust off my stock LT1 only to replace it with a cheap flimsy aluminum coated system.

I can tell you that I have heard of many people who were not happy with the SLP Loudmouth once they got headers. So if you have headers in your future....I wouldn't recommend the loudmouth.

GOOD LUCK

I ran a flowmaster catback for 5 years on my 93. It held up great with the Houston humidity. Slipped right on with no welding, and I found it neither cheap, nor flimsy. Still had no leaks after 5 years, just surface rust on the seams and flanges. Only reason I changed it out was to go with true duals last year.

I dont remember the stock exhaust being stainless, but it's been quite a few years since I changed it out. And com'on now... if the stock exhaust was "perfectly good" then their would be no reason anyone to change it
