LT1 heads aftermarket?

hey,

i have heard that there is no real benefit to buying aftermaret heads for the LT1, just keep the stock ones and have them worked if they are in good shape. so what about the LT4 heads?

i prefer the borla. Also just keep your stock heads and get them ported. If you want a bigger response on the heads start a new thread.

so we are all agreed that flowmaster sucks? do any cat back systems really put out different horsepower or is it so small of a difference that it is meaningless?

I wouldn't say its meaningless. Flowmaster tends to be the bottom of the barrel as far as mainstream exhaust systems go. Borla, Magnaflow, Corsa and Hooker are all great...magnaflow is cheap and good because of its muffler design...but a lot of people don't liek the sound.

Get a Spintech catback. Real nice sound, reasonable price, and few people have them.

Before buying any exhaust system I would highly recommend listening to it in person. Loudcrap is one of the most popular exhaust systems people go with but in my opinion it is the worse sounding exhaust I have ever heard.

Personally I would go with either a Borla or an ATR catback exhaust (similar sounding to the Hooker catabck)

I vote Hooker. Sounds good and good results with gains. If you are more interesting with the sound though, definitely a Flowmaster. Everyone on here can't stand Flowmaster for whatever reason, but I still think it sounds the best. Another thing I can't figure out is why Borla is so popular. Peronsally, I think Borla sounds like a "ricey" exhaust setup. I'm not looking to get flamed here, so just let me have my opinions like you do.

Magnaflow here.... no complains from me.... sounds a little deeper at idle then stock. When you get on it is when you really notice the difference. Not bad for $320!

Just my .02,

Later,

Mike

Best bang for the buck?

SLP 2OTL, $399

I like it personally better than Borla for much less $$$...I have had nothing but compliments on mine...when I was buying it about 2 months ago, 3 or 4 2OTL owners on here said "It sounds the way an LT1 is supposed to sound"...

I couldn't agree more Aggressive tone without being anywhere near overbearing, and on the highway a nice mellow note thats hardly louder than stock...

Check it out.

All you guys on here putting down Flowmaster. Flowmaster, I think, is the best sounding exhaust you can buy. It's cheap too. You want good sounding exhaust with good power gains, cruise around with a Flowmaster, then uncap your cutout for racing. Simple as that. That's just my .02.
