Exclamation Everything works fine.I just want the security light gone! How?

On solid for over a year now. Car always starts, keyless entry, alarm work perfectly. Is there a way to reset VATS or something else I can do? If I take the bulb out(which is what I think I'm going to do) will I get a "Check Guages" light? I'm just sick of the light.

If the light is on and everything is fine it means that the Theft Deterrent Module is not programmed properly. I believe its a dealer only repair by reading the Module and cutting you a key to match. Or you can buy a new module, Install it and the first time you stick in your key and turn the Ign. on, it automatically programs the module for the key.

My security light went off and on sometimes. Sometimes it would stay on for 3 days, sometimes for 2 minutes. All was fixed when I had to replace my ignition switch. Might be a bad connection there?

Sometimes what happens is that the system detects a fault after the engine is already started. The VATS will then allow you to keep driving (obviously a good thing ) and the system is then not functional. If the problem never changes or fixes itself (like in the case of a loose wire) then the light will remain on and you will be able to start your car. You could simply have a problem with it reading the key.
