Everyone take a look I need it (esp. pros)

Alright I guess this is it. I just changed a whole bunch of crap on my car. Plugs, belt, oil sensor, fuel filter, gear oil, engine oil, transmount. Took the car out sounded great. Punched it and then it started fartin and I barely made it home. Found a vacuum leak from the PVC valve. Since then the car sounded like it had an exhaust leak. In the last 4 days its gotten louder. Knocking heavily. My brother thinks the engine went. Sounds like it, the oil pressure in under 20 when idling and only at 30 when at 2000rpm. Car is a 97Z A4 with ONLY 79,000Mi.

1st question: What do you all think.

2nd question: I've already thought about a new motor, what 383? I don't even know where to start.

3rd: WHo should I get it from? Crate Motor??????? With what on it. Everyday driver.

Well 1st things first I guess.......

thanks....you guys always help me out. Im greatful.

Where is the knock coming from. If you think it is coming from inside the engine, try holding a long screw driver up to it, and put the3 handle part on your ear, to pinpoint where the knock is coming from.

As for a new motor, I would say buy the parts and have it done yourself, you could save a lot of money that way.

Hard to say on that but if you werent having problems before you shouldnt be having them now unless you missed something during the tuneup.. might be pita but the first thing i'd check is make sure you got the plug wires on correctly and that the boots are properly seated on the plugs..

check engine light on??
hook up a computer and check for codes.
i would say rebuild your current engine into a 383 instead of getting a whole new one.

Get the car scanned! It's much easier to find the problem with a MALF code.

yeah dude... get it scanned... its probably something fairly minor, considering this started after you changed plugs and wires

Go to autozone and have them read the code, they will do it for free. That is the first thing you need to do, then come back here and post the code. Its stupid to sit here and try and guess, especially when you have a DTC that can be easily read.

When running is the SES light on solid or flashing? If its flashing then its a misfire. Definitely get it scanned.

I got a question. When the car is warm and you floor it, does the Oil pressure go down as you climb up in RPM's? If it does, The Motor is bad. I just had the same problem in mine and tore it down to find the bearings in the mains where gone.

thanks everyone...but Evil and 1982 I appreciate the questions.. No the pressure goes up when I gas it. It stays around 20 when hot and goes up to 40 when Im on the r's. And the SES light just came one recently and stays on. I was told so many things but the knocking is getting louder and its LOUD. TOK TOK TOK TOK. My friend said he had the same problem and it was the OPTI I find that hard to believe. I'm finally glad people are givin me input cause I dont wanna buy another motor if i dont have to

THANK A LOT ALL......I REALLY APPRICIATE IT.
