Trey, who did your heads for you? What'd they end up flowing?

Ya i no what your talking about lol , i was trying to point out two things at once ... what i meant was
1- Ive heard of having and extra .005 in ring gap for the extra expansion ( From heat ) that occurs with nitrous.

BUT

2- Even if it was .005 extra bore clearence and not the ring gap, would it really cause piston slap and shred the skirts ... wasnt thinkin tho .... and it makes sense now .005 + .005 = .01 which is TOO much clearance ... i was seeming to forgot about the intial .005 lol

Trey, the hot cam isnt the best for a N/A engine build , but if he is planning on running nitrous, better for him cause it will be way more streetable, and then the engine is built for NAWWS so he can spray when he is running it. Plus the Vette is lighter, so what he losses in not having a meaner cam, he gains back in weight ... for the end result of a very streetable, fast car, that was made to take a **** load of nitrous ... So really for a vette , it isnt a bad idea going with jsut the hot cam ... Or at least thats what i think ... not tryin to **** neone off ... thats jsut my opinion ... speaking of which , what is the weight of a LT1 Vette ?

right around 3,100lbs or so, maybe 3200.

why not a nitrous/blower cam

their large lobe seperations tend to tame the cam a bit

Arn't able to tell.... ppphhhhhhhhh, yeah, I'd really hate for someone to get ahold of my flow numbers too. They might figure out my ports and copy my motor! Just givin ya crap Only question I have sense the numbers are so top secret is if you have had them independantly flow'd by another shop to confirm that they flow what combination says they flow?

I will excecpt i am dredding effing with these springs :::shutter:::

They are very tank like...

for what i paid- i'm happy just looking at them

after seth asks you enough "would you rather hump a cat or an emu" questions, i guess you get discounts

anyway, i doubt they'd skrew me. After all, last thing they want is a "combination motorsports stg II heads and custom cam makes 8rwhp" thread

Are those top secret too, or will you tell me what you consider tank like? I've got Isky tool room gold stripes, del west titanium retainers, super seven locks, and ferrea valves. I don't think you have to worry about me being jealous. I'm just curious as to what you're doing and trying to accomplish. You can pm me if you like.

The extra .005 the engine builder is refering to is in the ring end gap.

Motor doesn't sound to bad for 383ci. Your going to find out that the motor will want more cam and will respond tramendous with a cam with more lift and dur. Stay around 550 lift and dura. under 230 for a good street cam. Just make sure your heads can flow the cfm needed. From the sounds of it more than likely they should.

TreyZ28,

I was wondering about those Pro Stock heads you have that are so top secret that you can't give flow numbers? ARE YOU KIDDING? IMO from the pic's those heads don't look like much but cleaned up stock heads with little bigger valves and especially seeing that your running stock location valve train.

I'm looking forward to that prostocker getting out to the streets so we can line'em up and you make me look bad with my 16 second ride!

Actually .005" psiton side clearance can cause a big problem. My last machinist honed to .034" instead of .030" for my stroker and after only 10,000 miles the pistons started to collapse. There was a .002" taper from the bottom of the skirt to the middle of the piston alone
