estimated horsepower?

The following will be done to the car in a couple weeks, Does anyone know how much RWHP should I expect out of the setup?

-LE 1 heads (should flow around 255/180, I havent gotten them back with the flow sheet yet)

-LT1 ported intake with 58mm throttle bores

-LE 1 cam (don't think i'm suppose to post specs, but its pretty big for peaking out around 6200)

-ARP head bolts

-ARP 7/16 rocker arm studs

-ARP polylocs

-Comp 5/16 flat pushrod style guideplates

- NGK TR6 plugs

-COMP chromoly pushrods

-CSR Electric waterpump

-Cloyes Double roller timing set and chain

-3600 Vigilante converter

-3.73 gears, on 10 bolt

-Transgo Shift kit

-hypertech 160 degree termostat

-groty 1 3/4 long tube headers

-summit X-pipe kit

-BBK 58 mm TB

-1.6 Comp pro mag 7/16 Rocker arms

-SVO 42 lb/hr injectors

-Cold Fusion Nitrous kit (150 shot)

-MSD window switch

-Cold Fusion fuel pressure safety switch

-walbro 255 fuel pump

-B&M trans cooler

-LT4 KM

-MSD ignition Coil

-UMI Lower Control Arms

-UMI panhard bar

-Moroso cold air intake

-BFG drag radials

-Clevite H main bearings

-Clevite H rod bearings

-Clevite cam bearings

-ARP main bolts

-Total Seal file to fit, ductile iron piston rings

-Moroso high volume oil pump

-Good dynotune

I Know the car should be good for atleast 375 rwhp N/A, does anyone got on idea of what i'll put down after a good dynotune? I was shooting for anything in the neighborhood of 500 RWHP, but would be pretty happy with at or over 470 RWHP on N2O.

Re: estimated horsepower?

could be from 390-400rwhp after a good dyno tune

Re: estimated horsepower?

I would say around around 380 RWHP with a good tune. If you would have got the LE2 heads/cam package then you could expect a little over 400 RWHP with your mods.

Re: estimated horsepower?

I would guess 370ish tuned. The converter will suck some up.

Re: estimated horsepower?

reason I didn't want to run the LE 2 heads/cam was because I just feel a little safer only revving to 6200 as oppose to 6500 with the 150 shot, RPM's and nitrous can't be a good combination/

Thats pretty much around the range I figured N/A. How about with the 150 shot, what kind of numbers should I expect??

Re: estimated horsepower?

How do converters rob HP, and if they do how much? I don't understand how they give .5 quicker ET's if they rob HP, I know they don't GAIN hp, but I didn't know they decreased it?

Re: estimated horsepower?

They rob power on a dyno, but the purpose is to get your car higher in the powerband when you launch before it fully engages the transmission. That way you launch with say 300hp instead of 240hp.

As for why they do I cannot say for sure as I don't know. Sounds like a question for the transmission forum.

Re: estimated horsepower?

It is lost due to the slippage. Take the same motor with a lower converter and see more peak hp. But peak doesn't really matter as much as powerband and that is why converters help. They keep the motor making more power longer.

If your just afraid to rev soo high with nitrous and cause detonation...then you should have just gotta a window switch. Only spray to like 6200 and then rev it out to 6500.

Re: estimated horsepower?

read the orginal post... I have a MSD window switch, I am actually only planning on using as a safety measure, to cut off N20 before I hit the rev limiter though. Not to mention if I were to run the bigger cam and then cut the nitrous at 6200 and still rev out to 6500, there would be a obvious loss in track times, prolly more than loss of 25 RWHP but spraying though shifts will be.

anyway, still just trying to get an idea of how much horsepower to expect with everything and the 150 shot??? I know heads/cam/nitrous with stock bottom ends setup isn't all that uncommon here (mine's almost stock, just refreshed with a few better stuff), i've seen many similiar to what I plan to run, and even some with stage 2 and stage 3 heads with stage 1 cam just waiting for someone with one of these setups to chime in with their dyno numbers.

Re: estimated horsepower?

Not knowing how big the cam is, I would say around 360rwhp. My stall isn't as big, vig 3200, and my heads are a little bigger(279/192), by Lloyd. Other then that, pretty much the same. The thing that killed me, was that they took 2* out of my dyno tune for the nitrous and it took 21rwhp...Found out the hard way that only a digital box would actually be able to pull the timing for the nitrous, besides internal programming or splicing. I hit 440rwhp with a 100 shot and the 2* timing taken out. Hope this helps.
