Re: estimated horsepower

Whats up bro. You’re askin a lot of questions, but I believe I can help you out on most of them. First of all, you're probably making about 250rwhp, give or take 5-10. It really depends how healthy your motor is, etc.

Second, a "cam" will add a great deal, but you're gonna need to be more specific. A smaller cam, (i.e. hotcam) will not add nearly as much as something with a little more duration, like a cc306, etc). However, I cant really give you a good estimate concerning how much power a "cam" alone will add as you should add a few other supporting mods (longtubes, to say the least) to get the most out of a cammed LT1.

Afraid I cant help you out with your third question, as I had an automatic and really couldnt burn out in third unless I was powerbraking. Obviously a clutch dump will get you some tire spin, but I wouldnt recommend it.

Finally, about the 3000gt- I had the pleasure of racing my friend in my 95 z28 (with kn filter and flowmasters). He had a 92 3000gt vr4. If you're goin up against a vr4 (the twin turbo, in case your not familiar with the model) you will probably loose- all wheel drives makes those things BEASTS off the line. Oddly enough, I started to reel him back in a little bit once we hit 70 or 80, but he was already too far ahead for it to really make a difference (we shut down once we hit 110 or so). However, if the 3000gt is NOT a vr4, you will smoke him. Easily. Have fun with the car man, camaro's are fun cars for sure, and if you have any other questions, everyone here is real helpful- just let us know whats on your mind.

Re: estimated horsepower

The size of your cam will determine how much it will add. As for cost, look at spending around $1k (give or take a couple hundred dollars) depending how good of a valvetrain you want, and if you can find good deals. With a cam and all the bolt ons, I made the power in my sig.

You should prolly see around 260rwhp with those mods through an M6.

Like said before, the VR4 will rape you out of the hole with their AWD and I don't think you have the horsepower to catch him on the big end. It will also depend on what year the 3kGT is.
