Your gonna hear some guys who really like the Hydra-Rev, me not unless you have a way to retain the top of the springs with something STEEL, not this aluminum crap that will get eaten up and give you the same problem of crap in the oil.

A link bar lifter is a better way to go, but i've never had a problem with the spider. You might have something goofy with the block so that might be causing the issues.

As for the cheap insurance with the oil system. Get 2 new filters and 2 setups of dino oil and just run it thru the motor and clean it out after 20-60mins. Then go back to some good oil and filter.

When you yank the cam it will tell the tale really.... if the journals on that are bad then the rest of them are worse since the cam is fed oil first.

That's a very good point and I'm glad you brought it up. What if we were to make some steel spring cups or steel seats or something for the springs to sit on, like for a valve spring, to them from abrading the aluminum? Otherwise I could just make the tops out of steel. (sorry - don't mean to hijak the thread)

Hmmm.. this one's a toughie.. I just sent ya a PM Bret.

So you guys think if those cam journals don't look massacared I could bandaid fix this for a little while huh? I guess if it gets it running that's OK. I just don't want to chew up another cam, and I'm afraid that might happen again.

I figured I'd pour oil down the sucker with the drain open and just let it flow through to get the crap out as best as possible...

Well, looks like I've got some work to do after I get home from my trip next week.

I swear I can swap LT1 cams in my sleep now...

There is an LE2 cam for sale in the classified section

Although I think Lloyd and Bret custom grind each cam for every application, so it may be just a little different.

What are you trying next Morels ? They seem promising. I cant decide when I do mine whether to go with Morels, or just use my stock ones (Have 16,000 on them, but it will be on a LE1 cam)
