Engine Temp

I have a 160 thermostat and my car runs at 190 all the time shouldnt it run at like 180 or so? I tuned the fans to come on at 197 so it never goes above that anymore while idling... BTW I have datamaster so I can see exactly what temp my car is at.

My datamaster logs show between 178 to 185 most times. I have recorded 190 once during the summer.

If you set the fans for 197 degrees and you are sitting in traffic its going to stay at right around 190 degrees. On a cold day while driving mine stays at ~170 degrees with manual fan switch i keep on most of the time. Hope this helps.

well mine stays at around 190 all the time while driving and if I sit in traffic it goes up to 197 and comes down. Anything you can think of offhand that might be causing the problem? Or is it a problem, 190 seems like it woudl heat up teh oil faster, any disadvantages to running at 175 rather than 190, and should I even bother trying to fix anything in order to cool it down?
